A Citadel radio station in Michigan seems to have got what it wanted – lots of attention – from its ploy about drowning a dog last week.
The Detroit News reported that “police and local animal-control organizations were kept busy fielding telephone calls from angry and concerned pet lovers after two morning radio show hosts announced that they would drown a dog on the air.”
The hoax was the work of WKLQ(FM). The PD of the station is quoted calling it “simply a theater-of-the-mind bit.”
