Dolby Laboratories, one of several developers of surround sound for HD Radio, has hired consumer electronics veteran Francois Modarresse as VP of worldwide marketing for its consumer division.
“The market is expanding rapidly in the HD arena in both broadcast and optical media, and global demand for a high-quality entertainment experience is growing,” stated Ramzi Haidamus, senior vice president and general manager of Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corp.
Before joining Dolby, Modarresse headed marketing and business development for SkyStream Networks, an IP video delivery platform manufacturer recently acquired by Tandberg Television. Earlier he helped found a start-up devoted to developing and selling technologies for next-generation set-top boxes and digital media appliances. He also worked at Philips Electronics in engineering and marketing positions.
