DPP and NABA Announce Cybersecurity Best Practices

Document offers recommendations for broadcast manufacturers and suppliers

Broadcasters are not immune to cybersecurity threats of all kinds, and in recognition of this, the Digital Production Partnership and the North American Broadcasters Association has published “Broadcaster Cyber Security Requirements for Suppliers.” Ericsson hosted the announcement at its IBC Show booth.

The organizations say the document will assist manufacturers and suppliers in developing products aligning to modern standards, which are available to download in an easily understandable format.

The standards were developed by the NABA cybersecurity group and supplemented by the DPP’s cybersecurity work stream, and the recommendations will be adopted by major UK broadcasters.

“Cybersecurity is now one of the top strategic priorities for North American broadcasters,” said NABA Director-General Michael McEwen. “We will never protect ourselves fully from attacks, but we need to mitigate their impact. As we define our information security requirements for the future, we expect suppliers to be our partners. In fact, we need their ideas and expertise in finding solutions that work.”
