DRM and ABU to Hold EWS Webinar

The two organizations examine DRM technology for use as emergency warning system

The Digital Radio Mondiale Consortium and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union are holding a webinar to discuss the potential of using DRM features as an emergency warning system.

During the webinar, which takes place July 16 at 8 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time, senior members of the DRM Consortium and the ABU will provide information and answer frequently asked questions on this topic.

“Emergency warning systems can be built using DRM as the core distribution technology,” said Lindsay Cornell, chair of the DRM Technical Committee. “This could offer a vital service in time of need to communities around the world.”

Sharad Sadhu, director ABU Technology, notes that the webinar touches on a crucial issue for Asia. “This is the first joint webinar organized with the DRM Consortium on one of the critical concerns for broadcasters in Asia,” he said. “We welcome this collaboration, a first of its kind.”
