DRM in Focus at ABU Digital Symposium

Event highlights include DRM applications in Asia

The 2013 edition of the ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium, held March 5–8 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the Hotel Istana will include highlights of the status of DRM.

As a principle sponsor of the event, Digital Radio Mondiale is organizing a number of workshops and sessions relevant to digital radio broadcasting.

On Tuesday March 5, the ITU-ABID is sponsoring a workshop on digital migration featuring Chair of the DRM Consortium Ruxandra Obreja on “DRM Implementation and Status Update in the Region.” She will also deliver Wednesday’s keynote address.

The first session, held on Wednesday March 6, will focus on systems standards (“More than Audio Broadcast: a Platform for Excellent Multimedia”) with Ampegon’s Head of Transmitter Product Development Matthias Stoll. It will be followed by a DRM workshop and a networking event.

Thursday March 7, Alex Zink, the senior business development manager for digital radio at Fraunhofer LLS and vice president of the DRM Association, will speak about “Multimedia Services for Digital Radio and Surround Content Generation” at the session on creative radio content for multiple platforms.

On the final day, a session will cover multimedia business solutions in emerging markets — specifically, Nautel’s Regional Sales Manager for Asia/Pacific John Abdnour will discuss “SRM Implementation Module: Some Asian Lessons.”

The conference will also be webcast live.
