EBU Kicks off Digital Radio Week

This year's edition is focusing on the user experience of radio

GENEVA — The European Broadcasting Union is holding its annual Digital Radio Week Feb. 12–15 at the EBU headquarters in Geneva.

Slated for the 2018 edition are a lineup of meetings and conferences covering the topics of radio technology and innovation.

These include the two-day RadioHack workshop, a Hybrid Radio Seminar, RadioDNS General Meeting and a workshop on Radio Archives. In addition, the week-long gathering will once again host The Digital Radio Summit, which the EBU describes as the “flagship event of Digital Radio Week.”

Taking place on Feb. 14, this year’s Summit will put focus on the user experience of radio, the challenges radio faces and possible ways for broadcasters to meet evolving audience expectations.

Speakers including Patrick Hannon of WorldDAB, Nick Piggott of RadioDNS, Tomas Granryd of Sveriges Radio, Sam Matheny of NAB, Travis Baxter of Bauer Media and Graham Dixon of the EBU will discuss topics ranging from smart speakers and hybrid radio to the changing face of in-car radio and 5G’s impact on the medium.
