The Union Européenne de Radio-Télévision (EBU) recently welcomed Annika Nyberg Frankenhaeuser as the organization’s first media director.
Nyberg Frankenhaeuser, who officially began Feb. 1, will head the new Media Department, which will consolidate over the coming months, the Radio and Television departments, News Services, EBU Training and a new Media Lab.
According to EBU director general Ingrid Deltenre, the internal transformations reflect the evolving media landscape as platforms converge.
With experience in radio, TV, Internet and news at Finnish broadcaster YLE and elsewhere in both her native Finland and abroad, Nyberg Frankenhaeuser believes that delivering quality content via several media platforms maximizes its overall impact, while also strengthening the distinct features of each medium, according to a release.
“Public service media deserves more attention,” said Nyberg Frankenhaeuser. “It raises the challenge to create quality content and provide an independent arena to foster democracy.”
