Eight more Arbitron Portable People Meter markets have been accredited by the Media Rating Council.
The additional markets are: Cleveland, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Denver-Boulder, Detroit, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood, Fla., Pittsburgh, Portland Ore., and Nassau/Suffolk (Long Island), N.Y.
That means a total of 26 out of 48 PPM markets are now accredited, according to Arbitron.
The MRC voted to continue accreditation in 18 markets — Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill, N.C., Chicago, Cincinnati, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Milwaukee-Racine, Wis., Minneapolis-St. Paul, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Riverside-San Bernardino, Calif., San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, St. Louis, and Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Fla.
The Media Rating Council is a nonprofit industry association, composed of television, radio, print and internet companies, as well as advertisers, advertising agencies and trade associations. Its goal is to ensure measurement services are valid, reliable and effective. MRC Executive Director George Ivie said Arbitron “has clearly made progress in meeting MRC requirements, particularly in most of the larger PPM markets,” and the group looks forward to continued headway.
Arbitron EVP Service Innovation/Chief Research Officer Gregg Lindner says the audience research firm remains focused on earning accreditation for the remaining 22 PPM markets.
