Emmis Radio Announces Promotions

Emmis Communications promoted Val Maki, senior vice president and Los Angeles market manager, to Emmis Radio vice president. Maki will be responsible for operations in Los Angeles and the soon-to-be acquired Austin market. Maki joined Emmis in 1984 and has held various positions in sales and management.
Jeff Federman, director of sales for Emmis Radio Los Angeles since early 1999, has been upped to vice president/director of sales for Emmis Radio Los Angeles. He will help oversee the Emmis Radio-LA cluster, given Maki’s new responsibilities.
Emmis Los Angeles includes KPWR(FM) and KZLA(FM). The soon-to-be-acquired Austin stations include: KLBJ(AM), KLBJ(FM), KGSR(FM), KROX(FM), KEYI(FM) and KXMG(FM). Pending approvals, the transaction is expected to close in Emmis’ 2nd quarter.
