Emmis, SBS Make Peace Over L.A. Tower

Emmis Communications Corporation and Spanish Broadcasting System have agreed to settle a legal dispute. Emmis has agreed to drop a lawsuit filed in district court against SBS and withdraw a complaint letter to the FCC. As part of the agreement, according to Emmis, SBS has vacated Emmis’ broadcast tower at Flint Peak in Glendale, Calif. The dispute began in June when SBS changed the KXOL(FM) format while leasing antenna space on the Emmis tower. Emmis contended SBS needed to notify the broadcaster of any format change that could compete with an Emmis station in the market.
