Energy-Onix announced shipment to Guyana of its new 10 kW solid-state shortwave broadcast transmitter. The user is Guyana Broadcasting.
The unit was sold by RM&E, which sells Energy-Onix products in South America.
The Pulsar HF 10,000 “can provide reliable broadcast quality coverage worldwide” when matched to an appropriate antenna, the company stated.
Energy-Onix specs its system at distortion of less than 1%, response less than 1 dB, variation 20 Hz to 12.5 kHz, RF efficiency 92% and modulation efficiency 95% . “The high AC efficiency of 73% permits this transmitter to save $50,000 per year in AC power costs, as compared to vacuum tube circuitry, which normally operates at 25 to 35% AC efficiency.” The system is DRM compatible.
The transmitters are offered with power outputs of 500 watts to 12 kW.
Three systems are in use globally.
