Entercom Portland has promoted Kent Randles to director of technical operations for the cluster. He will now oversee the engineering and IT departments and ensure the stations comply with FCC regulations.
According to the announcement, Randles most recently served as senior engineer for the same region, a role he had held since 2004. He is a Certified Broadcast Radio Engineer by the Society of Broadcast Engineers.
Prior to joining Entercom, Randles was a technical integration specialist for StudioWorks in Portland from 2003–2004. Before that, he was chief engineer for KXL and KXJM in Portland for two years. From 1994–2001, Randles served as assistant director of engineering for CBS Portland. For a decade prior to that, he was chief engineer for KZAP/KNCI in Sacramento, Calif. Also in Sacramento, he spent six years as assistant chief engineer for KXOA(AM/FM). He also spent a year as an engineering assistant and announcer at KROY and KROI in Sacramento. From 1973–1976, Randles was a production technician for Drake-Chenault Enterprises in Canoga Park, Calif. He got his start in the business as an automation technician and announcer for KXOA(FM) in Sacramento in 1971.

As of the recently completed merger with CBS Radio, Entercom has a nationwide footprint of 235 stations.
