Entercom Upstate Announces Changes

Staff takes on new responsibilities at WROQ, WTPT, WYRD and ESPN Upstate

Entercom Upstate in South Carolina has made several promotions and expanded roles for two Entercom staffers, as well as extended a contract for a radio show host.

Mark Hendrix was promoted to operations manager for WYRD(FM) and ESPN Upstate. He will continue his role as ops manager and PD for WTPT(FM), WROQ(FM) and PD of ESPN Upstate.

Jay D. “Stoneman” Stone was promoted to PD from assistant program director for WROQ. Stone will continue his role as assistant PD for WTPT(FM). He also hosts “The Stoneman” program on WROQ from noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays, and 2–6 p.m. Saturdays.

Talk radio personality Bob McLain has also signed a new long-term contract to continue his “The Bob McLain Show” heard 3–7 p.m. weekdays on WYRD. In addition, McLain, who previously served as the station’s ops manager, will now step back from day-to-day activities and take on the title of operations manager emeritus.

Jay D. Stone

McLain started his career at WTOB in Winston-Salem, N.C. He joined Entercom’s Greenville, S.C., media enterprises in 2002 at WGVC (now WYRD) and has been in the TV and radio business for 40 years.

Stone joined WROQ as music director in 2003. He previously held the same position at KGGO in Des Moines, Iowa.
