Marty says his new consulting gig will give him more flexibility over his schedule, and more time to toodle around in his biodiesel van. He sounded upbeat about what the future holds.

I asked him about the status of Entercom’s IBOC rollout, which he’s been in charge of. Marty said about 68 FMs (out of roughly 79) are done. Those that are left “are the ones where we’ve been trying to come up with alternative transmission schemes for better energy efficiency.” Sometimes tower contracts don’t provide for a choice when it comes to extending their antenna size or other ways to mitigate those costs, he said.

As for the company’s roughly 32 AMs, now that the new rules are in place, Entercom will be starting its AM rollout in 2008.
