ESPN Hails a Streaming Success

Says its online stream is a record-setter

“ESPNRadio.com now has the single most-listened-to online stream of any terrestrial broadcaster in the world.”

So says the company, citing data from Ando Media, which measures 7,000 streams of audio including terrestrial radio simulcasts and online-original streams.

ESPN says it reaches more than 420,000 unique listeners per month. “Additionally, ESPNRadio.com is the largest, most listened-to talk format stream, both terrestrially and via Internet-only streaming,” it stated. “It generates 1.9 million total sessions per month (an increase of 25 percent compared to last year) and the average session in ESPNRadio.com’s audio stream lasts 2.5 hours.”

According to the media company, ESPNRadio.com is “the most visited online sports radio destination in the United States” with about 9 million page views and 2 million visits per month.

The company notes that it also recently launched technology that allows for “dynamic, geo-targeted” content and ad insertion in live audio streaming and downloadable audio. This allows for “locally relevant” content to be delivered in live ESPNRadio.com streams and ESPN podcasts.
