ESPN Radio Raises $1.9 Million

Auction and golf tournament raise money for cancer research

ESPN Radio has reported that its July campaign to raise money for the V Foundation’s efforts on cancer research raised a total of $1.9 million.

Two major events were responsible for the haul — the Don’t Give Up ESPYs V Foundation Auction and the ESPY Celebrity Golf Classic. The one-day golf tournament was held on July 16.

The auction ran from July 7–17, highlighted by a live, on-air radiothon on July 17, 6 a.m. to midnight. A variety of items and experiences were auctioned off. Total take for the auction was over $780,000, according to a release.

Susan Braun, CEO of The V Foundation said, “The ESPN Radiothon is a fun-filled and lively way to raise awareness about cancer and to raise funds to defeat it … This year, our wonderful colleagues at ESPN raised more than $781,000, all of which directly comes to The V Foundation.”
