FCC Broadcast Engineering Forum Set for June 25

Meeting is forum to discuss spectrum issues related to broadband roll-out

As it said it would, the FCC is inviting broadcast engineers to the Portals to discuss all things spectrum-related to the national broadband rollout.

Broad topics for the June 25 meeting include the “cellularization” of broadcast architecture; methodologies for repacking the TV band; improvements in VHF reception; and advancements in compression technology.

Following these working sessions, each group will report on its preliminary findings and recommendations for its assigned topic. This portion of the meeting is open to the public.

The FCC says it has invited broadcast industry engineers and technical experts in related fields to take part, though who is speaking has not been released.

Audio/video coverage will be carried online at www.fcc.gov/realaudio. For additional information contact Alan Stillwell at [email protected].
