Out of 1,200 applications filed at the FCC from people and groups interested in owning an LPFM station, 255 are eligible so far. These are cases where there is no more than one applicant for a frequency. The commission is still reviewing cases in which more than one applicant is vying for a single frequency and says those eligible applicants would be announced in the future.
The 255 announced Thursday is from the first two LPFM filing windows. The FCC is accepting applications in a third filing window Jan. 16-22.
