FCC Dismisses NAB’s Satcaster Petition

The FCC granted NAB’s wish regarding satellite radio. It dismissed the trade association’s petition for a ruling to clarify that satcasters XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio must air national programming only.
NAB said so much has happened with the satcasters in the past few months that it wants to update its data and re-submit its petition.
XM believes the trade group knew the petition would fail in light of opposition from the consumer electronics industry, the satellite industry and more than 25,000 subscribers who opposed the petition at the commission.
