FCC Explores ‘Towering’ Concerns

Environmental and historic preservation compliance session scheduled

The Federal Communications Commission will hold a “Communications Towers and Environmental/Historic Preservation Compliance” conference.

Scheduled for 9 a.m.–5 p.m., June 21, the conference will convene at the FCC headquarters in Washington.

On hand will be folks from the FCC Wireless Telecommunications Bureau, Media Bureau, Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau, USDA Rural Utilities Service, Department of Commerce National Telecommunications and Information Administration, FEMA and Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.

On the agenda are an overview of pertinent FCC environmental rules and regulations, FCC tower construction and repair information systems (TCNS and E106), discussions of and by State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO) and Tribal Historic Preservation Offices (THPO), examination of public safety issues for broadcast towers and presentations by select agencies.
