FCC Stays Open Again This Weekend; Next Meeting Will Focus Solely on Gulf Matters

The commission will give updates on its efforts to restore communications in the Gulf Coast states at its public meeting next week, and plans to devote the entire meeting to the topic.
Fifty to 100 radio and TV stations were off the air as of mid-week, according to Ken Moran, executive director of the Office of Homeland Security for the FCC’s Enforcement Bureau, who testified before Congress earlier in the week.
The FCC will be open again this weekend for those needing emergency telecommunications service authorizations.
