FCC to Review Media Ownership (Again)

FCC to Review Media Ownership (Again)

As part of an effort to review all media ownership rules, the FCC is going to look at some aspects of the radio ownership limits, according to FCC Commissioner Kathleen Abernathy. Reuters reports the proceeding could be launched either this month or next. Not up for change, according to the service, would be the new market definition. The Notice would be broad and also include cross ownership limits, Abernathy said.
The Supreme Court earlier this month decided not to take up an appeal of a lower court ruling on media ownership, sending the rules crafted by the FCC in 2003 back to the agency for better justification.
