FCC’s O’Rielly Names Chief of Staff

Robin Colwell currently works for South Carolina Republican Senator Tim Scott

FCC Commissioner Michael O’Rielly intends to hire Robin Colwell to be his chief of staff and legal advisor for media issues.

Currently, Colwell is a legal advisor to South Carolina Republican Sen. Tim Scott.

Her current start date is Dec. 15, assuming the necessary clearances are completed.

O’Rielly says he’s known Colwell for more than a decade and has “valued her knowledge of communications issues and optimistic approach to complex matters.”

Colwell has also worked as counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation’s Subcommittee on Tourism, Competitiveness, and Innovation; Sen. Scott is the Ranking Member. She has also been counsel to former GOP Senators Jim DeMint of South Carolina and Peter Fitzgerald of Illinois, and former GOP Rep. Connie Mack of Florida.

Before her time on the Hill, Colwell was an associate at Wiley Rein & Fielding, focused on telecommunications and technology transactions.
