Feds Closed for Second Day; Radio Keeps Area Informed

Federal offices in Washington were closed Friday (Sept. 19) for a second day, thanks to Hurricane Isabel.
The nation’s capital area began to return to normal after the bulk of the storm left the region Friday morning. Mass transit slowly was coming back on modified schedules; but millions of people around the area were plagued by power outages, downed lines, high water levels, dark traffic lights and warnings to boil water.
As they did in the entire path of the storm, stations swung into 24/7 warning mode, and many area residents stayed informed with battery-operated radios.
