Technological change is now a daily occurrence in broadcast. And it’s no big news that radio engineering is increasingly looking like an IT job.
That point is germane to this news — audio optical network specialist FiberPlex recently received a Neutrik PremierePartner Award. Connector major domo Neutrik presents the awards to companies doing “innovative” things with Neutrik connectors.
For the award Neutrik cited FiberPlex’s WDM-16 optical fiber multiplexer (which is built with Neutrik optical connectors). The WDM-16 handles 16 channels, each capable of passing 3 Gbps. That’s a lot of data. It has redundant power supplies.
FiberPlex supplies Ethernet data, analog and SD and HD video interface modules for the WDM-16 and since each channel is independent, the unit can be at the center of a high-bandwidth multimedia facility or mobile truck. FiberPlex says that the WDM-16 is not proprietary and can work with third-party optical equipment.
“Increasingly, organizations with big data needs are networking systems through optical cable and products like WDM-16 because of fiber optics’ enormous bandwidth capacity, range, Fort Knox-like security and economies of scale,” a release notes.
Neutrik USA Product Manager Fred Morgenstern said, “FiberPlex is an important piece of the puzzle for fiber optics delivery because of its bandwidth-enhancing products, specifically the WDM-16.”
