Several radio veterans will be among six recipients of the Pioneer Award next month. The Broadcasters’ Foundation will confer the awards during a breakfast in Las Vegas.
The event is Wednesday, April 20 at 7 a.m. at the Bellagio. This brings to 58 the number recognized in the program’s nine years.
The honorees are Robert Bennett, former president of Metromedia Broadcasting; Arthur W. Carlson, who was head of Susquehanna Radio; Joseph M. Field, founder and former CEO of Entercom Communications; Jim Goodmon of WRAL-TV/Capitol Broadcasting in North Carolina, which includes WRAL(FM); Herbert A. Granath, former chairman of Disney/ABC International; and Richard Harris, former president of Westinghouse Broadcasting’s Group W Radio and a father of the modern all-news format.
