First Broadcasting Hires Goldman, Eyes KC

First Broadcasting has hired Bert Goldman as executive vice president.
Goldman is among the industry’s more prominent corporate engineers. He was VP of engineering for ABC’s Radio Division and has worked at Shamrock Broadcasting, Patterson Broadcasting and Nationwide Communications. He is a member of the NAB Spectrum Integrity Task Force and is involved with the NRSC in evaluating IBOC.
The CEO of First said the company was “privileged” to have Goldman.
Also hired: Chris McMurray, former VP and Houston market manager for Cox Radio and AMFM Radio. She becomes VP of station acquisitions and will be responsible for acquiring and operating selected stations and clusters in emerging markets. She also worked for Nationwide.
First Broadcasting also announced a plan to operate a new full-market signal 97.3 MHz Kansas City move-in, which will sign on in the fall.
“No market in the country offers more format opportunities for the new station,” said First Broadcasting Vice Chairman Gary Lawrence.
