WNWV(FM) is on the air with HD Radio in Cleveland. It said it is the first station in the market to go IBOC.
Gary Kneisley, president of Elyria-Lorain Broadcasting, made the announcement. The station airs a smooth jazz format.
"No one will buy the receivers until there are broadcasters willing to step up to the plate and make the commitment to broadcast with the digital signals," he said in a statement. "We are pleased to be the first in Cleveland to do so. We expect other stations to follow suit shortly."
The chief engineer is Glenn Smith; Tim Kelly is the group facilities director. The station uses high-level combining, with a Harris transmitter and Dexstar Digital Exciter, Omnia processing, ERI combiner and Bird reject load.
