Audemat-Aztec said its RDS Encoder FMB80 supports the Radio Text Plus (RT+) standard that has undergone recent testing in Seattle.
The FMB80 is compliant with the RDS/RBDS standard and supports Open Data Applications, or ODA, the manufacturer said. “This enables the FMB80 to support any kind of new applications like RT+ without any modifications or additions to the encoder.”
RT+ enables receivers equipped with FM RDS to display information such as headlines, artist and track details and station information. It also allows the receiver to store information such as Web links and phone numbers. It was developed by Nokia, German broadcaster WDR and the research institute IRT.
