Former WAMU GM Sues

The former general manager of WAMU(FM) in Washington is suing the station’s owner, American University, and its president, Benjamin Ladner, for more than $12 million in a wrongful termination lawsuit.
Ladner dismissed station GM Susan Clampitt last October after reports surfaced in which volunteers and former donors questioned spending practices at the station.
In the lawsuit filed in District of Columbia Superior Court, Clampitt’s attorneys claim that Ladner approved her financial and budgetary recommendations, according to the Washington Times.
“It is American University’s policy that we do not comment on matters in litigation,” a spokeswoman from WAMU’s Public Affairs Office told RW Online.
David Taylor remains interim general manager. He’s also Ladner’s chief of staff.
The University has begun advertising for a new general manager.
WAMU recently went digital and is beta-testing a supplemental audio channel.
