Four Major-Market FMs Sign Up for GLBT Show; Launch Is in January

Founders call it the first gay-themed/gay interest syndicated radio show.
“Twist” has picked up affiliates in New York, Los Angeles, Boston and Atlanta, where it will launch on Jan. 14. It is aimed at “gay men and lesbians and those who love them.” The syndicator says it expects to have more outlets signed by then.
The program is from Wilderness Media and Entertainment; Matt Farber is president of the company. He’s the founder of MTV Networks’ new gay and lesbian channel.
The weekly two-hour program has signed FMs owned by Disney/ABC in New York; Clear Channel in Los Angeles; Infinity in San Francisco; and Susquehanna in Atlanta. Content includes music, celebrity interviews, entertainment reports, relationship and lifestyle experts, advice and news in a morning show format.
The company believes 15 million American adults identify themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transsexual. It calls this group “an intensely brand-loyal demographic with an estimated $610 billion in annual buying power.”
The show will be hosted by Dennis Hensley, Will Wikle and Melissa Carter.
