The Media Rating Council has accredited the radio average-quarter-hour monthly ratings data produced by Arbitron’s Portable People Meter ratings service in four additional markets: Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego and Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill, N.C.
With these four additional markets, a total of 18 PPM markets are now accredited.
The MRC has also voted to continue accreditation in 14 markets — Atlanta, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Houston, Kansas City, Mo., Los Angeles, Milwaukee-Racine, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Riverside-San Bernardino, Calif., San Antonio, St. Louis, and Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Fla.
Thirty PPM markets remain unaccredited. The MRC does not publicly discuss its methods nor reasons for deciding whether to accredit a PPM market. The process usually takes several years.
Arbitron EVP/Service Innovation and Chief Research Officer Gregg Lindner says the audience research firm is pleased the MRC continues to recognize the progress Arbitron is making and the audience research firm remains focused on efforts to gain MRC accreditation for all PPM markets.
