American Media Services has named a veteran radio engineer and executive, Frank McCoy, as its president and chief executive officer.

He succeeds Edward F. Seeger, who has been named chairman of the company’s board of directors. Chief Operating Officer Andrew Guest will assume the position of vice chairman of the board, while current Board Chairman Jim Fort will become chairman emeritus. These changes are effective Jan. 1.

McCoy joined AMS in 1999 and serves as executive vice president of engineering. AMS says he is a national leader in broadcast engineering, especially in the area of maximizing station coverage performance, and also a frequent contributor to radio trade publications including Radio World.

McCoy’s broadcasting résumé also includes engineering management positions with ABC Radio, Gannett Broadcasting and AMFM Inc., now Clear Channel.
