Fraunhofer IIS, the German research institute behind most things MPEG, has released version 5 of its ContentServer. ContentServer is a radio digital encoding server program available for DAB, DAB+, DMB, DRM and the recently approved DRM+ standards.
One major advance of version 5 is simplified workflow, especially in configuring programs for transmission. Also, version 5 addresses sending content to multiple destinations and multimedia targets. Monitoring capabilities are upgraded as well.
ContentServer 5 data also has enhanced interfacing with services such as electronic program guides, or EPGs. DMB real-time encoding is now possible with this latest. A “Developer Edition” for equipment manufacturers and chip makers is also new.
