Several engineers remember the 92-year-old colleague

Dallas-area engineers have paid their respects to the family of Zaven “Doc” Masoomian.

The radio engineer who retired from WQXR(AM/FM), New York and then repped Northeast Broadcast Labs in Texas died Oct. 11. His funeral was held yesterday at the Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, according to an account on the website for SBE Chapter 67 Dallas-Ft. Worth.

Masoomian lived to be 92.

Several engineers remember him: “Listening to WQXR in New York influenced my quality of audio at KTVN CBS in Reno,” stated Alan Nichols, chief engineer at KTVN(TV), Reno, Nev.

Andy Lanset, director of archives at New York Public Radio noted that “Doc” paid a visit to their new facility recently. “Doc was really helpful to me on a number of WQXR history questions.”
