Mike Gallagher, the Salem Radio Network syndicated talk show host of "The Mike Gallagher Show," prompted listeners across the country to donate money to Feed the Children, an Oklahoma City, Okla.-based organization that delivers food and personal care items to military families. His listeners, or "Gallagher's Army" as he calls them, raised over $50,000 in a few hours.
The initiative came after an on-air discussion about a Denver-based middle school teacher who has been wearing a button on her coat proclaiming, "He's not my President." Gallagher decided he'd had enough of negative stories featuring war protesters and anti-American sentiment. "Instead of just bellyaching about the teacher, I thought it would be terrific if we could all do something positive as a response," said Gallagher.
Gallagher and Feed the Children will deliver hundreds of boxes of food, supplies and gifts to Colorado Springs, Colo. and Denver-area military families whose loved ones are being deployed. "The Mike Gallagher Show" plans to continue its partnership with Feed the Children.
