GatesAir Provides HD Radio to Bangladesh

Two HD radio stations will launch for Betar, Bangladesh’s national public broadcaster

Bangladesh is getting two HD radio stations that will be supported by GatesAir Flexiva 10 kW transmitters. The stations will be run by Betar, the national government broadcaster for Bangladesh, and will cover the capital city of
Dhaka as well as surrounding regions, providing coverage to some 18 million people.

Betar also went with GatesAir to provide a turnkey system, says the company. In addition to the Flexiva transmitters, Betar’s solution will also include a GatesAir Engine4 HD Radio platform with FlexStar HDI-200 Importer and HDE-200 Exporter.

This structure will allow Betar to deliver program audio and program-associated data services over a single stream to the transmitter, says GatesAir. Signal coverage is strengthened through a 250-foot tower and a panel antenna, it added.

GatesAir also provided training and will continue to provide support through the installation and commissioning process for Betar staff.
