Genachowski at CES

FCC chair to participate in supersession and policy discussion

Chairman Julius Genachowski will participate in a “SuperSession” and an FCC policy discussion at January’s CES show in Las Vegas.

Genachowski is scheduled to discuss FCC policy priorities with Consumer Electronics Association President and CEO Gary Shapiro Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, around noon. Expected topics will include broadband Internet, wireless spectrum scarcity and competition.

Genachowski will also participate in a SuperSession, “Global Perspective on Retail” on that day. Other planned participants include Brian Dunn, CEO of retailer Best Buy, Gary Severson, senior vice president, general manager, Entertainment for retailer Wal-Mart, Gilbert Fiorentino, chief executive, Technology Products Group for retailer Systemax and Srikant Gokhale, CEO of X-Cite, a retailer in India. The session will examine challenges facing retailers, especially on the international front.

The 2010 International CES is Jan. 7-10.
