Responding to a letter from Commissioner Robert McDowell on FCC reform, Chairman Julius Genachowski said such reform is “a matter of great urgency” in his reply.
As RW has reported, one of the first things the new chairman did was appoint a special counsel for FCC reform. Genachowski has asked the general counsel and managing director to work with Mary Beth Richards to review the FCC’s processes and make recommendations for improvement.
Genachowski said he’s begun meeting with managers in all the agency’s bureaus and offices to learn their ideas for re-tooling the FCC. This week, he pledged the commission would open an internal Web site to solicit reform proposals from employees. The site will become public at some point, he stated.
