George Sollenberger Jr. has died, according to SBE Chapter 48.
“George was a broadcast engineer for over 38 years, starting in radio with KOA and then in television at KCNC,” chapter Chairman Jim Schoedler stated. “In an article published in 1995 he recalled working with one of the first Ampex videotape machines, splicing 2-inch tape with a razor blade and developing solution.”
The chapter noted several e-mails from colleagues mourning his loss and remembering Sollenberger. One called him “the epitome of gentleness.”
