Ginny Morris to Receive Trailblazer Award

Radio Show award sponsored by the Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Group

Hubbard Broadcasting Chair Ginny Morris will be the recipient of the third annual Trailblazer Award. The award recognizes women who have “blazed new trails for women in the industry,” according to a release. The award is sponsored by the Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Group.

Morris, a third-generation broadcaster, began her career in 1982 in the promotions department of Hubbard Broadcasting’s flagship television station, KSTP-TV, becoming promotions manager in 1985.

Hubbard moved to radio in 1990 when asked to manage Hubbard’s KSTP(AM) in 1990. Morris took over the additional duty of managing KSTP(FM) in 1995, becoming president and general manager of both stations. Talent and programming developed for KSTP(AM) has been syndicated to 26 affiliate stations. The Hubbard Radio Network was formed in 1999.

Morris is a former chair of the NAB Radio Board and currently serves on the boards of the Radio Advertising Bureau’s Executive Committee, the Library of American Broadcasting and BMI.

MIW Radio Group spokesperson and Greater Media Vice President of Corporate Communication Heidi Raphael said, “Ginny’s stellar leadership, combined with her outstanding character, savvy business sense and continued success made her the perfect choice to receive this coveted honor.”

Morris will be presented with the award during the 2011 Radio Show’s Opening Remarks and Welcome Keynote session, taking place Sept. 14, in Chicago.
