Goodman Adds to Digity

Three Eagles’ four dozen central U.S. stations acquired

Dean Goodman just added 48 radio stations to his Digity radio empire.

The stations belonged to Lincoln, Neb.-based Three Eagles Communications. Like most of Digity’s previous acquisitions, the stations are in small- to mid-sized markets; this time in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota, with Lincoln being the largest. This is the largest acquisition to date for Goodman.

In a release announcing the deal, Three Eagles Founder and CEO Rolland Johnson noted that he had known Goodman for many years. “While on the NAB Board with Dean Goodman 10–12 years ago, Dean talked about his vision of buying stations and rolling them up into a diversified company. It is great to have a vision like Dean’s and to be able to follow through with it.”

Digity says that it “owns and operates (or has under contract) 113 live and local radio stations around the country. Subject to completion of the Three Eagles transaction, it will move to a top 5 radio group.”
