Google Revenue, Hiring Zooms Up

Google announced financial results for the third quarter.
The company reported revenues of $2.69 billion, up 70% compared to a year earlier and up 10% from the the second quarter of this year. Google-owned sites generated revenues of $1.63 billion, or 60% of total revenues. Partner sites generated revenues through AdSense programs of $1.04 billion, or 39% of total revenues.
Revenues from outside of the United States contributed 44% of total revenues in the quarter of 2006.
The company said that as of Sept. 30, it had cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities in hand worth $10.4 billion. Google has about 9,400 full-time employees, up about 18% in three months.
The company is now a broadcast supplier, having recently purchased dMarc Broadcasting and its Scott Studios digital management products line.
