The governor of Michigan will speak at this week’s Great Lakes Broadcasting Conference and Expo.
Running Mar. 8–9 at the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing, Mich., GLBC will feature an address from Gov. Rick Snyder. Keynoting will be Daniel Anstandig, president of McVay New Media and co-founder of Listener Driven Radio, talking about the digital state of the industry. Sessions for high school and college students will inform on careers in broadcasting and media. Events include a luncheon and Career and Networking Fair.
Companies on the exhibit floor of interest to radio include Broadcast Electronics, Broadcasters General Store, CGS Automation, Comrex, Continental, Dielectric, ERI, ENCO Systems, Harris, Mainesource, Nautel, SCMS and WideOrbit.
Educational sessions cover topics such as FCC compliance, the emergence of new media, advances in remote broadcasting, EAS/CAP compliance and essentials of lobbying.
The conference will finish with the Legislative Reception and Broadcast Excellence Awards, recognizing the achievements of stations across several categories, with Station of the Year the most coveted.
The GLBC is sponsored by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. The organization says last year’s conference drew representation fromn 72% of all radio and TV stations in the state.
