Groups Talking Digital Coalition

Groups Talking Digital Coalition

The big radio groups are referring again to talks about how to best roll out digital radio data services and promotion. Here in Philadelphia, Infinity’s Joel Hollander said talks are taking place between the executives of his company and Clear Channel, Emmis and Entercom. He said the groups would likely reveal their plan between 60 to 90 days. Clear Channel’s John Hogan termed the group “alliance,” a concept echoed by Ibiquity President/CEO Robert Struble in talking to PDs. “There’s a collation that’s coming together, the largest in history.”
Radio executives first publicly broached the idea of cooperating in their approach to multicasting or other data services and promotion when they announced at CES they would accelerate their digital conversions.
