Harris Names New Head of Its Broadcast Business

P. Harris Morris replaces Tim Thorsteinson

An executive with a serendipitous name is the new head of the Broadcast Communications business at Harris Corp.

P. Harris Morris had been vice president and general manager of Media and Workflow within the broadcast segment. He succeeds Tim Thorsteinson, who left last fall after three and a half years in the post.

Chairman Howard L. Lance said that Morris had “spearheaded our strategy of taking existing hardware and software applications and developing new technology to address emerging media markets like digital out-of-home networks. In support of these new growth initiatives, he has played a pivotal role in the cross-divisional collaboration to incorporate managed IT services as an integral part of these advanced media solutions.”

Harris Morris has been with Harris for two years; he is former chief strategy officer for the Thomson Learning Division of Thomson Corp. He also was a partner and vice president for business consultants Bain & Company, where he worked for 13 years.

He has an MBA from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree with distinction in economics and foreign affairs from the University of Virginia.
