Harris Segment’s Revenue Increases

Broadcasting business is now within Integrated Network Solutions

The business segment of Harris Corp. that includes broadcasting equipment reported an increase in revenue in the most recent quarter.

Broadcasting is now part of the company’s Integrated Network Solutions segment; Harris created that earlier this year by combining Broadcast Communications with several entities that had been under Government Communications, including Harris IT Services, Harris CapRock Communications, Healthcare Solutions and Cyber Integrated Solutions.

Revenue for the overall segment was $554 million in the first quarter, an increase of 26% over a year earlier, most of that due to business acquisitions. Putting those aside, revenue increased 5%.

But the company’s quarterly financial announcement didn’t cite any TV or radio sales trends, as it generally has done in the past.

The parent company said Harris revenue in the quarter was $1.46 billion compared with $1.41 billion in the prior-year quarter, while net income was down. But the company said it began its fiscal 2012 with “significantly higher orders, showing both strong year-over-year and sequential growth.”
