Harris Shows DRM Transmission and Digital Console Platforms at Broadcast Asia 2005

Visitors to the Harris booth at Broadcast Asia will find new Digital Radio Mondiale transmission products and a new, flexible console that is Harris believes is ideal for international markets in need of a compact system for the digital studio.
At Broadcast Asia, Harris is displaying its DRM On-Air Upgrade Kit, designed to make the digital transition as swift and easy. The DRM On-Air Upgrade Kit features a modulator and content server. The content server encodes audio and combines it with digital program information into one digital bitstream that is sent to the transmitter. The DRM modulator, situated inside the transmitter cabinet, accepts the digitally prepared signal and controls the transmitter to drive the digital signal to the receiver.
Visitors to the Harris booth can watch a demonstration of the DRM On-Air Upgrade Kit with the company’s DAX1 AM transmitter.
On the studio side, Harris showcases the PR&E brand StereoMixer digital console for its international introduction. The console is part of the company’s expanding VistaMax product family, designed for studios that require a compact console that Harris says retains the features and flexibility for digital radio.
The board supports analog and digital inputs and outputs, allowing radio stations to transition to digital at their own pace.
