Harris Signs Two Public Organizations in Rich Data Deal

Harris said two public radio services are using its new DATAplus data content management software.
The Classical Public Radio Network and JazzWorks are the clients. Harris said they will use DATAplus to augment their programming with content data, allowing concurrent informational display for their listeners on HD Radio, RBDS analog radios or Web streaming. It can include title and artist info, promotions, weather and traffic info.
CPRN is distributed by NPR and has 51 affiliates. JazzWorks feeds 30 affiliates. WDUQ and WUCF in Orlando are scheduled as the initial JazzWorks rollouts.
DATAplus will be installed at the Denver uplink on the public radio satellite system and downlinked at Colorado Public Radio flagship KVOD(FM). Stations airing either service may pass the data through their local systems to the transmitter without additional equipment. Those stations can choose to install DATAplus and enrich the text with local information.
