HCJB World Radio, AudioScience to Develop Advanced Audio Card

HCJB World Radio and AudioScience plan to develop an MPEG Layer II/III audio adapter designed specifically for use with the Automated Radio In Every Language automation system Dave Pasechnik, director of the HCJB World Radio Engineering Center in Elkhart Indiana, said AudioScience “offered the best combination of hardware and software for the price.”
The ASI6201 will be based on dual TMS320C6711 DSPs from Texas Instruments and will offer five streams of MPEG Layer II/III playback with simultaneous MPEG-Layer II/III record all at different sample rates. Both balanced analog and AES/EBU digital I/O are provided with the adapter sample clock being able to be synched to the AES/EBU input.
“AudioScience was the only one able to bring MPEG Layer II/III functionality to both the Linux and Windows environments,” stated Scott McConnell, managing the ARIEL development.
